The Arlington C.P. Church Homecoming will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010! What a wonderful day it will be, with morning worship beginning at 11:00 a.m., Lunch at noon and a special Homecoming presentation and special music beginning at 2:00 p.m.. 5th Sunday Singin' At The Campground Church

What a great time we had at the Campground CP Church in Erin, Tennessee! Five area churches participated in our regular 5th Sunday Singin', including the Arlington CP Choir, and we thank the Campground Church for being such wonderful and gracious hosts.

Youth Sunday At Arlington CP

The youth of Arlington CP Church were in charge of the morning worship today. The theme of the service was "God's Light." What a powerful message they gave today! Our youth are such a blessing, as they are a vital part of our ministry at Arlington! Thanks to everyone who participated and planned for this special day.

5th Sunday Singin' At Erin CP A Huge Success!

The second "5th Sunday Singin'" for 2008 was held at the historic and beautiful Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located in downtown Erin. The church was standing room only, filled with area CP choirs and guests. The Arlington CP Choir presented some awesome messages in song, and Kathy Smith sang two beautiful solos for the event. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed delicious refreshments from the wonderful and hospitable Erin CP congregation.

The next "5th Sunday Singin'" will be held August 31, 5pm, at the Liberty CP Church in Clarksville, TN.

Arlington CP Wins "Best Booth" At Houston County Relay For Life!

The Arlington CP Church has done it once again, winning "Best Booth" at the 2008 Houston County Relay For Life event, held in Erin, Tennessee! The theme for this year's event was "Saddle Up For A Cure," and the Arlington team decorated their booth in a country/western theme. The team even broke into song for the judges, with a rousing rendition of "Happy Trails To You!" Way to go, Arlington Team!

The team sold beverages and baked goods to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Several luminaries were purchased by the congregation, in honor of or in memory of a loved one with cancer.

Thank you to everyone who participated in some way to make this event a success, whether it was being on the relay team, donating money to the cause, donating drinks and food for the booth, or assisting with the booth decoration and takedown! We appreciate you so much!

Relay For Life Benefit A Success!

Arlington CP Church hosted a gospel singing and bake sale at the church on Saturday, May 10, 2008, to raise funds for Relay For Life. Those who attended enjoyed a great evening of local talent and the best baked goods in Houston County! The event raised over $500.00! Thanks to all who participated to make it such a success!

Rev. Bane Installed As Arlington CP Pastor

Pastor installation services for Reverend Ted Bane were held on Sunday, April 27, 2008, during the regular morning worship service at Arlington CP Church. Participating in the installation service were (L to R): Rev. Bane; Rev. Kitty Norton-Jones (Nashville Presbytery); Von Selph (Elder, Campground CP Church); Joyce Knight (Elder, Arlington CP Church); and Rev. Don Tabor (Nashville Presbytery). A celebration luncheon was held after the service. Welcome, Rev. Bane & Family!

Congratulations, Shane & Evette!

Congratulations to Shane & Evette on their recent marriage! The couple were wed in March at a local church in Erin, Tennessee. Rev. Bane presided over the ceremony.

Arlington CP Participates In Annual Irish Festival

The Arlington CP family enjoyed a full day's activities at the annual Irish Festival in Erin, Tennessee. The church sold concessions and passed out church brochures at the event and enjoyed a great day of fun and fellowship. Taking a break at the Arlington CP tent are (L to R): Rev. Ted Bane; Janice Bane; Linda Bratschi; Ronnie Bratschi; and grandson Cody. Thanks to all who set up (and took down), donated food/drink, worked the concession stand, and made purchases!

Women's Event Overwhelming Success!

Over 65 women from the Houston County area attended Lisa Smartt's presentation at Arlington CP Church! They had an awesome time, worshiping the Lord and enjoying Lisa's humorous and touching testimony. Afterwards, a reception was held in Lisa's honor, featuring Arlington CP's legendary cuisine!

The Baby

Why do we talk and preach the cross eleven months out of the year but we limit the baby to one month out of the year? Why do we limit: the manger, the donkey, the baby, Mary, Joseph, the birth of John the Baptist, Elizabeth, Zechariah, the magi, Bethlehem, the flight to Egypt, the prophesy, the shepherds, the star... to only one month? If preachers would address one element of the birth story each week, we would be teaching the story of the birth of Christ three months out of the year. Could it be that we are somewhat neglecting the birth of the Messiah?

Christmas Cantata Success

The annual Christmas Cantata was a huge success! Over 50 people came to worship with us as the choir and youth performed the program "There's Something About That Name". After the program, everyone joined together in the fellowship hall for refreshments and gift exchange.

Jesus - There's Something About That Name!

If you have ever pondered the name Jesus and its many meanings, you know that it is a glorious name that represents many things to many people. On Sunday, December 23, at 6:00 p.m., Arlington CP Church will host a candlelight contata entitled Jesus: There's Something About That Name. This musical presentation encorporates a variety of musical selections, arranged by Tony Wood and Russell Mauldin, which feature contemporary songs blended with traditional Christmas hymns. The program will feature the Arlington choir, soloists, duets, youth speakers, and musicians sharing music and recitations - all while surrounded by the brilliant glistening of candles, Christmas decorations, and the radiating sounds of the church's original bell. Following the program, we'll have a time of fellowship with refreshments. All are welcome to come and join with us in our humble efforts to worship and praise our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! After all, there really is something about That Name!

Dec 9 - Why Bethlehem?

Scripture Text: Matthew 2:6

Why Bethlehem? Why not? When we think of Bethlehem, we tend to only think of the Nativity story. Think about it...when was the last time you thought of Bethlehem - or spoke of it - without including the Nativity Story? But if you think about it, Bethlehem was the perfect place for the birth of Christ.

Looking through the Old Testatment, we find the story of Jacob and Rachel, Naomi and Ruth, King David, and the prophecy from Micah, all relating to this tiny little village. Where would you have placed the birthplace of the Messiah? Jerusalem? Rome? Athens? Nazareth? Isn't it just like God to show up at the place you'd least expect?

Where will you "find" the baby this week?

November 25 - "From A Distance"

Scripture Text: Matthew 8:1-13

What does it take to amaze someone? What amazes you?

According to scripture, Jesus was only amazed twice. He was amazed at the Jews' lack of faith, and in this particular scripture, He was amazed at the great faith of an unlikely person - a Roman Gentile centurion.

Have you amazed Jesus lately? If so, in what way - by your great faith, or by your lack of faith?
